Sunny Singapore Part 4

This is a continuation of Sunny Singapore Part 3..

After having some fun at the Singapore Discovery Centre , I took the same bus (182) back to Boon Lay Bus Hub where I actually wanted to go to Chinatown, but there's a shopping centre next to it.. So I reckon I should head there and have a look or two..

Jurong Point..Located just next to Boon Lay MRT..
The entrance to the mall..

I planned to walk around Jurong Point for 5-10 minutes..It took me 2 hours+..

Guess its because of the sales in Singapore that tempted me to walk around the whole area, lurking for Abba Dvd's and cheap clothes..

When I first entered , I actually thought that its going to turn out like Desa Complex(Cheapo Shops with cheapo stuff)..I completely changed my mind when I walked around and saw the shops and restaurants that were available.

There's Ding Tai Fong and Thai Express and also a mini Japanese Food lane where all the Japanese food and restaurants were available. Although there's no high end shops around, there's always the standard Levi's,Giordano's and Court's,suitable for everyone..

Jurong Point will be a place to remember for few reasons:

1.Leslieweslie bought his first hip-hopish Jacket (SGD20)
2.Leslieweslie also bought his first set of accessories..(SGD 8.90)

Dang..This mall is even better than Jusco Metro Prima by miles...

Some of the pics that I took:

Doesnt it look a bit like The Gardens,Midvalley??

Spade..They have nice clothes..But its kinda expensive though..

For lunch, I ate Pork Katsu Don which also includes Miso Soup..The price is SGD 4.50..And it doensnt suck..Besides the auntie was friendly to me as well..

Yummy eh?

After that, I decided to go to Funan DigitaLife Mall and get my iPod casing once and for all..Sim Lim doesnt have the casing that I want and its expensive..Furthermore I have never set foot at Funan before..So its a good chance for me and have a look..To go to Funan, you just need to take the MRT and alight at City Hall Interchange..Directions is available at the station to direct you to the place..A mere 5 minutes walk from the station..

I spent about 30-45 minutes at Funan, surveying for the best and affordable iPod casing..But in the end I chose:

The Belkin Remix Metal..Its very kick@$$ looking and it only costs SGD 29.90 or Rm72 after conversion..Of course this is not the retail price as other shops sells it for SGD39.90 or Rm96.. So I think its worth it to get it at that price..It protects the screen as well..

I wanted to go back to InnCrowd and rest before moving on to my next journey. But I went the other way round and actually managed to cover the areas that I did not want to visit at the first which is the Esplanade Area..Coz I already covered the place during my first trip..

The first place that I managed to go while on the way was the Parliament of Singapore..Compare to our Malaysian Parliament, the place is quite small and not tall of course..But no doubt that its heavy secured with the CCTV's and security personnel.

Before I continued my journey, there was this cool looking building that looks like from the future and all..But I was amazed that it turns out to be:
The Supreme Court of Singapore...I thought it was some kind of big MNC company..But its definitely a nice building..

If you guys had read part 2, this place is actually Clarke Quay..Yes..Singapore is that small..

Tall skyscrapers..

Ok..Thats it..Already got bored of writing this..Will continue with part 5 when I'm free..haha..

Sunny Singapore Part 3

This is a continuation of Sunny Singapore Part 2..

My first day in Singapore ended with a 1 hour Internet session at the nearest Internet Cafe, tempting Lele with Zara sales(Over already) and telling how great the place is..

I had my dinner(or supper?) around 12.15 am at the Indian restaurant nearby. Walked too much until I forgot the time and my dinner..Ate Nasi Goreng Biasa (SGD 2.80) and Teh Tarik (SGD 1.00). It was nice and full..

DAY 2

After my breakfast and all, I finally decided to visit the Singapore Discovery Centre which is located near the Jurong Birdpark. Its around 10 mins away from the Boon Lay MRT station by taking bus no 182 or 193 at the Boon Lay Bus Hub..

Bus 182..

Bus no 182 turns out to be a double-decker and I was excited as this is the first time taking a double-decker bus..But the bus was a bit old, nonetheless the bus still functions well ,unlike the Malaysian buses which have more breakdowns..Wonder when will Malaysia change???

The view from the top of the bus.

The Sunny Singapore Traffic..

Anyway I alighted at the wrong bus stop, and it took me 10 more minutes to walk to the SDC..I think its because by the time I pressed the button to ask the bus to stop, the bus already went past the bus stop that I was suppose to alight at...Oh well..

There's a lake at the SDC area.. and on weekends there's boat paddling activities available..

Near the entrance of the SDC there was this mini expo conducted by the Singapore Civil Defense Force(SCDF) .I think its some sort of awareness campaign where they displayed their fire trucks, equipments and more..

I think its a great thing to do by the respective authorities to display it especially at a tourist attraction centre..Not only it helps to spread awareness among the people, it also helps to increase the knowledge of people as well(Like me..hehe..)..

The ticket admission costs SGD 10 which also includes a free SAFTI tour and some 2D viewing which unfortunately I have to forgone it due to time constraints..

The SAFTI bus tour is a tour of the SAFTI Military Institute where it is a tri-service military training institution for all officers of the Singapore Armed Forces. So this means that the officers from the navy, airforce and army will have their training here. Because its a military place, visitors like myself cant take any pictures of the entire place during the bus tour(Sorry).

By the way, I'm the sole passenger for the bus tour as it's a weekday I suppose..But nonetheless, its a fun and educating experience. The SAFTI tour guide also asked me about our country's 'Summer Camp' aka National Service. I find it hard to explain to him as I was not picked it(Lucky!). And I told him that Malaysia's National Service is one of the crappiest things ever exist. Was kinda harsh I guess but that's the fact.

One of the old military planes that was used by the Singapore Airforce.

After the tour, I finally entered the SDC.

To cut it short, SDC is not a very interesting place although it highlights the country's infrastructure, culture and other stuff. I would rather visit the Singapore Science Centre which is way cheaper(SGD 4.50). But one of the things that I liked was when I was greeted by this cute symbol of Singapore which is:

The Merlion and his rap, 'So Singapore'. Its basically a simple musical about Singapore and its cultures, from the diversity of its people,HDB and Singlish. I find it quite funny and educating. I wonder if there's this kind of show in Malaysia.

I'll just post the rest of the pics that I took while at SDC..

A dome where there's a mini game where people can have fun building the future Singapore..Not that fun if you were to play it alone.

A flying simulator.

Leslieweslie reporting for CNN..Haha..I like this thing where you get to be a news reporter. But the quality of the recorder wasnt that good.Perhaps they should upgrade it to make it look better.
Bye Bye Mr Robot and SDC..I wont come here again.

That's all for Sunny Singapore Part 3...

Sunny Singapore Part 2

This is a continuation of Sunny Singapore Part 1..

I alighted at Outram Park MRT to meet my friend Lynn, who went to Singapore to work. I visited her room which is very very small, even my hostel room's bigger than us. But the security system of the shoplot is definitely top-notch. Apparently they used key cards and the door opens when you touch the keycard on the door.

This pic was taken from the rooftop of the shoplot..

Before we went to Clarke Quay, she went to her sis's house which I followed as well. Its located in Yishun but we alighted at Khatib MRT instead. The area is full of HDB flats but what was astonishing is the type of cars that the typical Singaporeans own.
Most of the residents own at least a Vios..Others drive Camry and I even saw a Mercedes C-class as well..You cant see these kind of cars in flats in Malaysia..

The walk to her sis's house from the MRT station was kinda long..About 5-10 mins. If its in Malaysia, I would definitely complaint of the long walk. But for Singaporeans, it is a norm. If I were to stay in Singapore would definitely need to walk walk and walk the whole time..

HDB flats with nice cars around it..

After that we went to Clarke Quay..Over there, there's lots of really nice(and expensive) restaurants, bars and cafes. There's also this Bungee thingy that is also available in KL.. I did not try the food over there as it is a bit too expensive for me to savour. But nonetheless, this is a really nice place to hangout at night.

The Bungee thingy..

Clarke Quay..

Loved this pic..Looks like the spaceship from Independence Day.

More pics from Clarke Quay

Notice the color changes from blue to purple..

That's all for Part 2..Stay tuned for part 3

Sunny Singapore Part 1

Just came back from Singapore..And its hot and I'm very tired..But I'll post pics and explain briefly about my recent trip to Singapore. This time however, I spent most of my trips on malls, malls and malls.. What was supposed to be a trip to East Coast Park was replaced by a 3 hour tour around Jurong Point.I'll explain more about this in the second part.

LCCT terminal. One of the most boring airport terminals in the world I suppose..Full of people and lack of sitting space inside the terminal is definitely not a good impression hence the low cost of the airfares..

My luggage and sling bag to accompany me for the trip.

My seat is near the window of the wing. Its definitely a nice place to take pictures of the beautiful sky..

I wished I took that plane instead..

The Immigration Counter in Terminal 1..The lady in charge of the immigration was friendly , a total contrast to the stern-looking immigration officers of our country.

The skytrain that I took in to go to Terminal 2 for me to board the MRT..

The Crowne Plaza..One of the best looking hotels that I have ever seen..It'll look magnificent at night I reckon.

After I had checked in at the Inncrowd Backpacker's Hostel which is located somewhere near Bugis, I went for lunch and like the last few trips, I went and tried the ever famous Katong Laksa. The laksa costs 3.50SGD and is very nice. I also ordered Teh C to compliment it for a very nice satisfying meal. Total cost:4.50SGD..

A construction that was in progress..

More pics to come..Tired..
